Poetry Scribes meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from Sept. through June. Meetings begin at 1:15 p.m. and are held at the North Spokane County Library, 44 E. Hawthorne Road near Whitworth University. Meetings are usually about an hour and a a half in length. Each meeting begins with an invocation and flag salute and then the reading of poetry written by the members. Each member introduces himself (standing, if possible), shares a short couplet and then an original poem they have written. Respectful listening is always expected. Club business is conducted following the reading time. An assignment for the following month is announced and the meeting is closed with a benediction. December's meeting is a Christmas party. The June meeting is an Achievement Luncheon to showcase the accomplishments of each member and to induct officers for the coming year.
