Lilac Poet

The Poetry Scribes of Spokane has been an active Group in the Spokane Lilac Festival since 1938!  At that time Grace Lipscomb wrote a poem "When Lilacs Lift Their Scented Plumes in Spring" and it was presented as a song.  Since 1967, the reading of the Lilac Poem has become an honored tradition at The Associated Garden Clubs of Spokane Lilac Luncheon, a traditional Festival event!

The Poetry Scribes of Spokane have a compilation of the Lilac Poets and Poems in their beautiful book, Song of the Lilac.  Each Poem and Poet from 1950-2012 is memorialized in this beautiful book.
